Recently, I had the privilege of speaking to a room full of inspiring women in the modelling industry. The energy in the room was electric—a mix of excitement, curiosity, and shared ambition. As I stepped onto the stage, I felt the weight of my journey and the incredible stories these women brought. My message was simple yet profound: embracing your dreams, redefining beauty, and stepping into the spotlight is never too late.
“ Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive industry that values diversity in all its forms. "
As I looked at the audience, I encouraged them to embrace their unique paths. Whether they were starting their modelling journeys or considering bold career moves, I wanted them to see that their stories matter. Each of us brings something irreplaceable to the table. Our individuality is our greatest strength.
I also emphasized the importance of community. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive industry that values diversity in all its forms. By uplifting one another and celebrating our differences, we pave the way for a future where everyone can shine.
“ beauty is expansive. It’s in the wisdom etched into our faces, our confidence in our stride, and the stories that make us who we are "
I began by sharing my journey of continuing to model at age 60 plus. For many, modelling seems reserved for the young, but I’ve discovered that age can be an asset, not a barrier. My path wasn’t conventional. A lifelong love of fashion shaped it, as moments of bold reinvention and a deep-seated belief that numbers don’t determine our worth on a calendar.
Growing up, my passion for style was ignited by my Mattel Twiggy doll and nurtured through sewing my own clothes as a teenager. These experiences taught me the joy of self-expression and the power of creating something unique. Later, as I pursued a career in fashion merchandising, Iearned to navigate the industry with confidence and creativity. But it wasn’t until I reached my 60s that I truly stepped into my own as a model, embodying the values I’d advocated for years.
Standing before these women, I spoke about the importance of challenging societal norms. Like so many others, the modelling industry often clings to narrow definitions of beauty. But beauty is expansive. It’s in the wisdom etched into our faces, our confidence in our stride, and the stories that make us who we are. By stepping into the modelling world later in life,I’ve had the opportunity to challenge those stereotypes and show that style, elegance, and charisma have no expiration date.
I shared moments of vulnerability—the doubts, the challenges, and the moments when I wondered if I belonged. But I also shared the triumphs—the joy of walking the runway, the pride of representing women my age, and the fulfillment of knowing that I’m helping to broaden the industry’s vision of beauty. These experiences have reinforced my belief that confidence and authenticity are our most powerful tools.

My experience as a 60-year-old model has been a celebration of pro age, a reminder that life doesn’t end at a certain number—it evolves. And with each new chapter, we can redefine ourselves, inspire others, and leave a lasting legacy. To the women in that room and everyone reading this, I say: step boldly into your dreams, embrace your unique beauty, and know it’s never too late to create something extraordinary.
